Kolkata: A day after Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya warned partymen against any demand for cut money or extortion, state ministers Dilip Ghosh and Agnimitra Paul said on Monday such people would not be allowed to continue in the party. There were also “a number of people trying to contact us with crores of rupees” to gain entry into BJP, Ghosh added. While state urban development minister Paul said it was not possible to “wash everyone in a washing machine” before induction, state panchayat minister Ghosh said “such people in BJP are being identified and we are also identifying which party worker is in touch with them”.On Sunday, Bhattacharya said people had voted for BJP to put an end to extortion and cut money culture. He also warned party workers against imbibing such culture, “embedded in Trinamool”.“There will be a section of errant party workers. We didn’t wash them in a washing machine before they came to BJP. The party president has sounded a note of caution and some workers have already been expelled. BJP practises what it preaches,” said Paul. With BJP now in office, “many are trying to find an opportunity to make quick money”, she added. “There are four helpline numbers and people can tell us on the phone. People can raise their complaints against illegal toll tax, syndicate, extortion and liquor joints. One can simply lodge a complaint anonymously and action will be taken,” Paul said.Bhattacharya on Sunday also said people were approaching him with “bags full of money to seek protection”. Reiterating this on Monday, Ghosh said: “Everyone likes money, but BJP has not entertained them.”Bhattacharya, who also voiced his apprehension that the direction of “egg therapy” might change if party workers allow “Trinamoolisation”, on Monday said it was not BJP’s agenda to throw eggs at someone or slap false cases against any neta or worker. “I met an MP in Parliament and he complained of eggs being thrown at him. I think throwing eggs has reduced by now, though we cannot visit shops to stop egg sales,” he said.“Everything will be dealt with as per law. The CM is there and he is also the police minister. He will take care of that,” Bhattacharya added.
