Chennai: Amid speculation that PMK was likely to join the TVK alliance after the upcoming bypolls, VCK leader and state social justice minister Vanni Arasu reiterated that his party would not be part of any political alliance that includes PMK.“VCK is firm on its stand. We will not be part of any alliance that includes a caste-based political party such as PMK and a communal force such as BJP,” Vanni Arasu told reporters on Thursday, reiterating party chief Thol Thirumavalavan’s stand.PMK has also rejected the reports of an alliance with TVK. PMK MLA Sowmiya Anbumani said the reports that she was likely to become a minister in TVK cabinet were baseless.Vanni Arasu referred to Sowmya Anbumani’s statement, saying there was no point in discussing the issue when the PMK leader herself had described the alliance reports as a rumour. On Wednesday, VCK chief Thol Thirumavalavan also denied the reports in a video message, saying false information was circulating to disrupt the transfer of VCK votes to TVK candidates in the Madurantakam and Dharapuram bypolls on Oct 6. He urged party cadres and functionaries to ignore the reports. However, TVK ministers and functionaries have remained silent on the speculation. CPM state secretary P Shanmugam said there was a lack of transparency on TVK’s part on the issue. “If it’s a rumour, TVK should clarify it,” he said.
