Kolkata: Investigations have intensified against Sumit Roy, personal assistant to Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, as Bengal CID took over two corruption probes while local police served a fresh notice at his Kolkata residence.Roy faces multiple legal troubles across Bengal, including allegations of land fraud, job recruitment scams, and unpaid resort dues. CID assumed charge of two cases registered in West Midnapore district—one involving alleged govt land fraud at Salboni and another concerning a job scam at Debra. Calcutta High Court recently rejected Roy’s anticipatory bail plea in the Salboni land fraud case, though it granted him relief in the Debra matter.A CID team visited Roy’s residence in Tollygunge’s Mahabirtala area in this regard on Tuesday.Meanwhile, a police team from Bishnupur in South 24 Parganas also visited Roy’s home. Investigators served a notice directing him to appear within three days regarding a complaint filed by a resort owner. The complainant alleged that Roy booked the property for Banerjee’s ‘Sebaashray’ healthcare outreach drive but failed to clear dues. Since Roy was not present, his mother accepted the notice and expressed hope that the matter would be resolved quickly.Roy remains untraceable despite an active arrest warrant and a lookout circular issued against him.
