Jamshedpur: Security forces recovered a cache of weapons, ammunition and explosives during raids in the Dalma forests under the Kuchai and Chandil police station areas of Seraikela-Kharsawan district.The operation followed disclosures by three Maoists arrested on Aug 5 — regional committee member Madan Mahto Charan alias Shankar Mahto, sub-zonal committee member Ravi Singh Sardar alias Sagar and sub-zonal commander Meena Pahariya alias Nepu.During interrogation in police remand, the trio revealed the locations of concealed arms dumps. Police subsequently searched Sikarmba forest under Kuchai police station and the remote Dalma hills above Asanbani under Chandil police station.The forces recovered a 5.56mm INSAS rifle with four magazines, a 7.62mm SLR with three magazines, two .303 rifles, three magazines, eight chargers, a 9mm country-made pistol with two magazines and another country-made pistol.They also seized 309 rounds of ammunition, comprising 171 rounds of 7.62mm, 126 rounds of 5.56mm and 12 rounds of 9mm ammunition.A bomb disposal squad destroyed an improvised explosive device and two detonators. SP Manoj Swargiary led the operation.
