Chatra: A 50-year-old farmer was allegedly beaten to death by his elder brother and other family members over a long-running land dispute at Datmi village in Chatra district on Tuesday, police said. The deceased was identified as Kailash Yadav.His elder brother, Vilas Yadav, has been named the prime accused based on the statement of Kailash’s wife.According to reports, Kailash was ploughing the disputed land when Vilas arrived with others and objected. A heated argument escalated into violence. Attacked with sticks, Kailash collapsed on the ground and died.Kailash’s wife, Saroj Devi, lodged an FIR at Hunterganj police station naming Vilas, his wife, Malo Devi, and others, including two minors.Officer-in charge of Hunterganj police station Prabhat Kumar said one of the accused has been taken into custody, while raids are under way to apprehend the remaining. “Further investigation is on,” he said.
