Ranchi: The Jharkhand CEO office will organise election literacy meetings, or “chunav pathshalas”, across all polling stations in the state on July 14 to ensure wider awareness, participation and discussion around the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. It aims to ensure that no genuine voter’s name is deleted from the electoral roll.Officials said several initiatives are also underway to help voters complete SIR-related formalities.Chief electoral officer K Ravi Kumar said, “For wider participation of people in the SIR, everything will be discussed and all issues will be taken up during the election pathshalas, also known as chunav pathshalas.”Reviewing the ongoing SIR exercise on Tuesday, Kumar told officials that in the pathshalas, the prepared list of absent, shifted, death, duplicate and refuse to sign (non-Indian) should be read out.The pathshalas will be held across all polling stations, including those in Ranchi. Govt officials, senior citizens, local political party representatives, BLOs and BLAs will participate in the programme.“For assistance related to electoral roll mapping, voters can contact their BLO through the ‘Book A Call’ feature on the ECINET app,” Kumar said.“If any voter faces difficulty in filling the form or has any doubt or complaint related to SIR, they should contact toll-free number 1950 and book a call,” the CEO said.Voters can also reach BLOs through multiple channels. As part of the SIR exercise, BLOs have pasted SIR stickers on houses in their polling station areas, displaying the BLO’s name and mobile number.The ECINET app enables voters to obtain their BLO’s contact details by entering their voter ID number. Voters may also call 1950 to connect with their district DEO office, where helpdesk managers will address queries and forward complaints. Complaints can also be lodged through the National Voters Service Portal.Kumar said documents related to the SIR exercise will be preserved as permanent records. A bilingual animation video explaining SIR forms to voters was also released recently.
