CID court hears bail pleas of JPSC exam case accused
CID submitted a case diary of around 1,000 pages, detailing evidence gathered against the accused so far

Ranchi: A special CID court on Tuesday heard the bail petitions of former JPSC chairperson L Khiangte, former deputy examination controller Shweta Gupta and three other accused — Abhay Tiwari, Saurav Suman and Arvind Kumar — arrested over alleged irregularities in the 14th JPSC examination.CID submitted a case diary of around 1,000 pages, detailing evidence gathered against the accused so far. The prosecution sought time to examine the documents and prepare arguments on the bail pleas. The defence counsel, meanwhile, requested a synopsis of the case diary from the public prosecutor.The court fixed Sept 1 for the next hearing.In her bail petition, Gupta claimed she had no role in selecting TSR Data Processing Limited, the agency hired to conduct the examination and scrutinise answer sheets. The agency faces allegations of anomalies in the examination process. State govt suspended Gupta following her arrest on July 22, while Khiangte was arrested on Aug 10.
