Patna: Students from CISCE-affiliated schools showcased their creativity at the Fr George Hess Memorial ASISC Patna Zonal Creative Writing and Painting Competitions 2026, organised under the aegis of the Association of Schools for the Indian School Certificate (ASISC), Patna Zone, at International School, Patna.In the creative writing competition, SB Sheena Christy of GEMS English School won the sub-junior category, followed by Riddhi Shree and Ananya, both from St Joseph’s Convent High School. In the Junior category, Enakshi Mukherjee of SJCHS secured first place, while Aalia Akhtar of International School and Shyaan Alam of Mt Carmel, Lohiya Nagar finished second and third, respectively. Sarojini Verma of SJCHS topped the senior category, followed by Navya of St Xavier’s High School and Anahita Anand of Don Bosco Academy.In the painting competition, Navya Malhotra of SXHS won the sub-junior category, ahead of Vanisha Shubh Lakshmi of SJCHS and Jannat Dodeja of International School. Yafi Haidar of DBA secured first place in the junior category, followed by Lavanya Vardhan of Carmel High School and Nitin Kumar of Nazareth Academy. In the senior category, Spandan Chattopadhyay of SXHS emerged winner, while Priya Pradhan of CHS and Nainsi Kumari of GEMS English School secured second and third places.The first-place winners in all six categories qualified for the regional round. Winners were felicitated with trophies and certificates. Principal Farhat Hasan said the event encouraged creativity, critical thinking and self-expression while promoting the holistic development of students.Van Mahotsav week observed at AN CollegeVan Mahotsav Week was observed at AN College, with the National Service Scheme (NSS) unit organising Van Mahotsav 2026 at the college’s Anugrah Vatika to promote environmental conservation and encourage tree plantation.The programme was inaugurated by principal Prof Ratna Amrit, who highlighted the importance of forests in maintaining ecological balance and stressed the need for large-scale plantation to combat environmental challenges. She urged students and faculty to plant “Ek Vriksh Maa Ke Naam” and adopt a tree for its long-term care. Under her leadership, several saplings were planted in the college campus.NSS programme officers Naveen Kumar, Shireen Masroor and Amrita Chakravarty, along with NSS volunteers, teachers and students, also took part enthusiastically. The programme concluded with a pledge to protect the environment, plant more trees and ensure the survival of newly planted saplings.
