Ranchi: A joint team of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and Central Coalfields Limited (CCL) seized five trucks carrying around 250 tonnes of coal near Ojha Tandi village in Latehar district early on Monday. Officials said the raid began around 3 am following intelligence inputs about coal theft and illegal dumping in a forested area.CISF assistant commandant Subhash Kumar said the trucks were allegedly being used at night to lift coal from a dump and conceal it in the adjoining jungle before daybreak. The drivers abandoned the vehicles and fled after spotting CISF personnel, he said, adding that difficult terrain slowed movement in the area. The seized coal and trucks were handed over to Balumath police station for further action. Police have registered an FIR.
