Sasaram: CM Samrat Choudhary on Tuesday inaugurated the two-lane Sasaram bypass, built at a cost of Rs 122 crore, and launched the ‘Rohtas Jal Sanjeevani’ initiative to revive traditional water bodies. He announced that work on the Sasaram-Patna national highway would begin within two months and 10 airports would be ready in Bihar before 2029.The 9-km bypass, built along the irrigation canal embankment from Beda to Mokar, includes a rail-overbridge and a bridge. It is expected to ease traffic congestion, improve connectivity and boost economic activity in Sasaram.After the inauguration, the CM inspected a renovated pond near the bypass under the Kayakalp campaign. Launching ‘Rohtas Jal Sanjeevani’, he directed officials to ensure regular cleaning and maintenance of ponds, reservoirs and other water sources. He stressed protecting them from encroachment and pollution, maximising rainwater conservation and encouraging public participation.Earlier, addressing a youth interaction programme at Narayan Medical College and Hospital in Jamuhar, Samrat said the govt aimed to create sufficient employment opportunities in Bihar by 2030 to reduce migration. Claiming around 12 lakh people from Bihar worked outside the state, he urged industrialists to invest in the state and create local jobs.Samrat said the govt was working with the Centre to tackle floods and droughts through irrigation projects and improved water management. He also highlighted the role of young people in building a developed Bihar and reiterated the govt’s commitment to law and order and women’s safety.Claiming Bihar’s budget had risen from Rs 6,000 crore to Rs 3.17 lakh crore, he said development initiatives aimed to improve people’s lives. Ministers Ashok Choudhary and Shreyasi Singh, local MLAs and other public representatives attended the programme.
