NEW DELHI: Manish Brahmbhatt, founder of the Cockroach Janta Party-Democratic, on Thursday announced the launch of the new political platform, saying it would focus on transparency, accountability and democratic decision-making, according to news agency ANI.Brahmbhatt said people could join the platform through its social media accounts, WhatsApp and a missed-call facility.“We are launching Cockroach Janta Party-Democratic. Today, we are announcing social media accounts, a WhatsApp number and a missed-call number for the nation,” he said.He said the organisation would seek to build a national team through a democratic process, with members involved in important decisions.“Anyone who supports transparency and accountability, and believes that accountability should apply to the team as well and not just the government, can join,” Brahmbhatt said.Explaining the reasons behind the initiative, Brahmbhatt alleged that political interests had gradually taken over what he described as a people’s movement. He said efforts had been made to convince those involved that the movement belonged to the country and should not become centred around an individual.“This is the country’s movement. The country has awakened. Try to form the country’s team in a democratic way. Form your own team, but don’t make it Kejriwal‘s team,” he said.Brahmbhatt also criticised the process through which another political team was formed, alleging that volunteers were not properly consulted and that preference was given to selected individuals. He further alleged that mobile phones of participants were confiscated during a volunteers’ meeting in Delhi to prevent the proceedings from being recorded. According to him, such practices went against the principles of transparency expected from a movement seeking to challenge the existing political system.Referring to earlier anti-corruption campaigns, Brahmbhatt said his group had supported issues rather than any particular political party. He alleged that the new platform would raise its voice against corruption and what he termed a “gutter system”, irrespective of the political party or government involved.“Their agenda is only to defeat one party. They have no intention to speak for the people or raise their voice against a corrupt system, no matter which party or state is involved. That is why today we are establishing the Cockroach Janta Party Democratic,” he said.Brahmbhatt said the organisation’s national team would be selected through a democratic process and promised transparency in decision-making.“Every decision of ours will be taken transparently and democratically, after taking everyone’s opinion. This is our promise to everyone and to the country,” he said.He urged citizens and volunteers to join the initiative through the social media platforms, WhatsApp number and missed-call facility announced by the organisation.(With ANI inputs)
