Patna: Under the aegis of the Bihar State AIDS Control Society (BSACS), AN College, Patna, organised a college-level marathon competition as part of the Red Run 2026 campaign. The event was held as part of a statewide awareness initiative aimed at educating young people about HIV/AIDS, adolescent health, healthy lifestyles, and the importance of regular physical activity.Students from various departments enthusiastically participated in the marathon. The programme began with the registration of participants, followed by an orientation session focused on HIV/AIDS awareness, the benefits of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and the social responsibilities of young people in spreading awareness.A total of 25 students took part in the competition. Following the successful completion of the event, 10 participants—five male and five female students—were selected to represent AN College in the next stage of the Red Run 2026 competition.The event was coordinated by Amrita Chakravarty, nodal officer for Red Run 2026, with active support from volunteers of the National Service Scheme (NSS). College principal Ratna Amrit congratulated the selected participants and expressed confidence that they would perform well in the upcoming competition while bringing laurels to the institution. She also emphasised that such initiatives play a vital role in promoting health awareness, social responsibility, and positive values among youth.Investiture ceremonyGyan Niketan Girls’ School organised its annual investiture ceremony to encourage leadership and responsibility among students. The event was inaugurated by Samastipur MP Shambhavi Choudhary in the presence of school director Sayan Kunal, principal Bincy Mathew, and vice-principal Sonia Arora.During the ceremony, Ayani Parvez of Class 12 was appointed school head girl, while Ankita Kumari of Class 11 became deputy head girl. Rashi and Aditi Kumari were named sports captain and vice-captain, while Ananya Raj and Ojaswini Jha were appointed cultural captain and vice-captain. House captains for Gargi, Maitri, Lopamudra, and Vidyottama were also honoured with badges.Vice-principal administered the oath to the newly-elected student leaders. Addressing the gathering, Choudhary said education is the key to shaping the nation’s future. Principal Mathew stressed the importance of balancing rights with responsibilities, while Sayan urged students to perform their duties with dedication and integrity.
