Ranchi: The ongoing protest by job aspirants at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi against the alleged exam irregularities is now drawing support from politicians from the governing INDIA bloc parties.Congress functionary Bandhu Tirkey on Monday arranged breakfast for protesters camping at the stadium. The agitation, which began on July 25, has attracted hundreds of students from across the state seeking reforms in the functioning of the recruitment commissions.Tirkey told TOI the students were raising a genuine issue. “They are citizens of this state and voicing genuine concerns. It is our responsibility to look after them, so I sent breakfast for them,” he said.Backing their demands, Tirkey said a Congress delegation would soon meet CM Hemant Soren to discuss the matter and seek an appropriate resolution. “The concerns of the students need to be heard and addressed. The delegation will present some advice to the CM and discuss the matter in detail in a day or two,” he said.Tirkey, however, backed CID amid the opposition’s demands for a CBI probe. Claiming that the investigation is on course and 11 persons have been arrested so far, Tirkey said, “Similar cases were handed over to CBI in the past but did not yield any result.” The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has also extended support to the protest.
