Police said the killings followed a dispute over pigs grazing on agricultural land
Ranchi: A district court on Thursday sentenced 11 people, including a woman, to life imprisonment for the 2023 triple murder of a family in Ormanjhi on the outskirts of the city. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on each convict.The convicts were identified as Sahajnath Bedia, Rajo Devi, Sanjit Bedia, Rajit Bedia, Hemant Bedia, Mahendra Bedia, Panchit Bedia, Kameshwar Bedia, Bedia Bedia, Anuj Bedia and Sukra Munda.The case relates to the murder of Janeshwar Bedia, 42, and his two wives, Sarita Devi, 39, and Sanju Devi, 25, at Gunja Devnajra Tola under Ormanjhi police station on Aug 23, 2023. Janeshwar’s nephew was injured while trying to stop the attackers, while a 10-year-old boy narrowly escaped the assault.Police said the killings followed a dispute over pigs grazing on agricultural land, which later escalated into a violent clash.The prosecution established the involvement of all 11 accused, leading to their conviction.
