CUSB VC stresses multidisciplinary research

Patna: Vice-chancellor of Central University of South Bihar Kameshwar Nath Singh on Monday stressed the need for collaborative and multidisciplinary research on topics of societal relevance in the larger interest of human beings.Addressing the annual advisory committee meeting of the biotechnology department’s postgraduate programme, the VC said the department should work in collaboration with sister departments such as bioinformatics, agriculture and life sciences to achieve fruitful results. He also called for establishing closer links with industries for optimum utilisation of research findings.At the outset, biotechnology department head Rakesh Kumar presented a detailed account of the department’s infrastructural facilities and ongoing academic activities. DBT programme coordinator Durg Vijay Singh outlined the progress of research work in the department.Union ministry of science and technology representative Vijayendra Singh, industry expert Manoj Kumar, skill training expert Krishna Mohan from Hyderabad, and academic experts Arvind Kumar and Gopal Nath from Banaras Hindu University participated in the deliberations.It was decided the department would apply for extramural projects being floated by the science and technology department and seek further infrastructural grants under different schemes.All senior teachers of the departments and members of the advisory committee attended the meeting. Faculty member Pratishtha Sonker proposed the vote of thanks.
