DGP asks Avadi police to prevent crimes, speed up probes

Chennai: Director General of Police Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal reviewed the law and order and crime situation in Avadi police commissionerate on Saturday and issued directions to officers on preventing serious crimes and improving investigations.The meeting, held at the commissionerate office, was attended by the commissioner of police, joint commissioner, and deputy commissioners. Aggarwal reviewed the investigation of murder cases and crimes against women and children and directed officers to take steps to curb the movement of contraband, including ganja and gutka.He reviewed measures to prevent road accidents and tackle cybercrime. Directions were issued to freeze bank accounts linked to fraudsters and strengthen financial investigations in cybercrime cases. The DGP reviewed the monitoring of history-sheeted offenders and the status of cases pending against them. He instructed officers to initiate steps for cancellation of bail in important cases and ensure the execution of non-bailable warrants.Aggarwal also reviewed the disposal of public petitions, foot patrols, and the functioning of village vigilance committees. He presented appreciation certificates to 20 police officers and personnel of Avadi commissionerate in recognition of their exemplary work. He heard grievances from police personnel and received their petitions.
