Ranchi: The Dhanbad district administration has mooted a short term and long-term proposal before the Jharkhand high court on Thursday for eradicating parking woes of advocates in the Dhanbad civil court.The Dhanbad district administration informed the division bench of Chief Justice M S Sonak and Justice Rajesh Shankar that a meeting was held in the office of the Dhanbad principal district and sessions judge on March 28, and April 21.The meeting was attended by Dhanbad deputy commissioner, senior superintendent of police, municipal corporation officials and members of the Dhanbad Bar Association. The meeting was also attended by high court advocate Shailesh Kumar Singh.The district administration informed the HC that to begin with as a short-term plan, the space on both sides of the road stretching from the civil court to Randhir Verma Chowk in Dhanbad will be earmarked for parking of vehicles of advocates. The street vendors who lay up their stalls in that area will be relocated to another designated zone, the counsel for the Dhanbad district administration informed.As a long-term plan, the administration will identify land for construction of proper parking complex which may include a multilevel facility. The administration is also exploring the utilisation of land that would become available upon the proposed shifting of Dhanbad jail as a long-term solution, the counsel said.Advocate Shailesh Kumar Singh had filed a public interest litigation before the Jharkhand HC on behalf of the Dhanbad bar association bringing to light the difficulties faced by advocates of the district court for no specific parking zone being demarcated.
