Dmart Employee Booked for Injuring Stray Dog With Scissors in Mulund

Mumbai: An FIR has been lodged against a Dmart employee, Sameer Thakur, for intentionally injuring a stray dog with a pair of scissors at Mulund (west).Animal activist Hitesh Yadav, who had recently gone to the Dmart store in Mulund for shopping, noticed that the store staffer, Thakur, walked towards a stray dog resting outside Dmart and poked its rear side, which injured the dog.Activist Sunish Subramanian of Plant and Animals Welfare Society (PAWS-MUMBAI) told TOI: “Since it is a crime under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, to hit or injure any animal, we lodged a police complaint against the Dmart staffer, Thakur, at Mulund police station.”He added that the eyewitness to the cruelty, Yadav, had also questioned the senior officials at Dmart on why they hit the dog with scissors, but their response was rather cold and hence the FIR was filed.
