Dhanbad: To ease traffic congestion and curb roadside encroachment in the busy Bank More commercial area, the basement of DMC Mall will be opened for vehicle parking by Dhanbad Municipal Corporation (DMC). Under the arrangement, vehicle owners can park four-wheelers in DMC Mall basement by paying a monthly fee of Rs 2,000.Bank More, one of the city’s busiest markets, has been facing rising traffic pressure due to an increase in vehicles and limited parking space. Four-wheelers parked along roadsides often narrow the carriageway, causing frequent snarls and inconvenience to commuters, residents and shopkeepers.Dhanbad Municipal Commissioner Ashish Gangwar said the civic body will use the mall basement as a dedicated parking facility, mainly for four-wheeler owners who do not have adequate parking space.The designated facility is expected to reduce roadside parking, curb encroachment and improve traffic movement in the area.Gangwar said the move is part of DMC’s efforts to address Bank More’s growing parking and congestion problems by shifting vehicles from roads to an organised parking space. The municipal corporation is also working on a parking plan for two-wheelers, with a decision on the facility and charges expected soon.DMC has appealed to residents, traders and vehicle owners in Bank More to use the designated parking facility instead of parking along roadsides, and to register and reserve parking space at the earliest.
