Dumka: A 60-year-old woman was hacked to death by her nephew at Barmasia village under Tinpahar police station limits in Sahibganj district on Thursday. The deceased Raso Muni Murmu was eating in the courtyard of her home when Dhunu Marandi, 45, nephew of her late husband Hopa Marandi, struck her with an axe on the head and face. She died on the spot.Marandi was taken into custody. Villagers informed the police there was a long-standing dispute between Murmu and Marandi, which may have led to the murder.“The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to Rajmahal Sub-Divisional Hospital, and a detailed investigation is underway,” Mrityunjay Pandey, the officer- in charge of Tinpahar police station, said.
