Mumbai: A film writer has lodged a police complaint against a “real estate auctioneer” for cheating her and her late husband of Rs 2.2 crore under the pretext of getting them a flat in Juhu, a farmhouse in Lonavala and a four-wheeler vehicle. Kurar Police have registered an FIR and are probing further.The 42-year-old film writer lives on FilmCity Road in Goregaon. Her husband passed away in 2024.According to her complaint, she and her husband were looking for a property to buy in 2023 while he was ailing. They met the accused, Geeta, who claimed to be working with a finance and real estate auction management firm. Geeta claimed that she had the authority to deal in auctionable properties and properties linked with banks. She showed the couple a 3BHK flat in Juhu and told them it would cost them Rs 2 crore. She also showed them a public notice which said that if the full payment was made in advance, the flat would be transferred in the buyer’s name and the auction process could be avoided.The couple paid Rs 2.08 crore to the auction management firm where Geeta worked. Subsequently, Geeta got the couple to pay another Rs 12.26 lakh under the pretext of getting them auctionable vehicles from Lonavala and a farmhouse.The complainant’s husband passed away, but neither were the properties and vehicle transferred in his name nor was the money returned by Yadav. The complainant eventually approached the police and lodged a complaint.
