Bettiah: An FIR has been registered against two panchayat teachers in West Champaran for allegedly securing govt jobs using forged educational certificates after the Bihar Sanskrit Education Board verification found the documents submitted by them to be fake. The FIR was registered at Bagaha Nagar police station on the directions of the Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB), officials said on Saturday. Both accused are currently absconding.The accused have been identified as Rajesh Prasad Yadav, posted at Govt Primary School, Navka Tola (Bargaon), and Shanti Devi, posted at Govt Middle School, Bargaon, under Bagaha-1 block. Both were appointed by the Bargaon panchayat planning unit.Officials alleged that the duo used forged Madhyama (Sanskrit) marksheets and training certificates to obtain govt jobs and continued in service for years.Block education officer Puran Kumar said that during an ongoing VIB probe, the educational certificates submitted by the accused were verified with the Bihar Sanskrit Education Board, Patna. In its verification report dated Aug 3, 2023, the board stated that the marksheets submitted by the two teachers had never been issued by it and were completely forged.The probe further revealed that the forged documents were used during the 2005 and 2006 teacher recruitment processes.Following the verification, the vigilance department directed registration of an FIR. Police said the case was treated as a cognizable offence and further investigation was underway to ascertain the role of others involved in the appointment process. The education department has also initiated departmental proceedings against the accused.
