Chennai: VCK president Thol Thirumavalavan on Sunday said that if Tamil Nadu Governor R V Arlekar has the authority to inquire into allegations of horse-trading, he should conduct a probe based on the complaints submitted by DMK and AIADMK against the ruling TVK.“If the allegations of horse trading are true, an inquiry should be conducted and action should be taken. If the Governor has the powers, he should intervene,” Thirumavalavan said. The remarks come a day after DMK, AIADMK and BJP had submitted complaints of horse trading to governor R V Arlekar seeking his intervention and prevent `engineering of defections.’ While DMK and AIADMK have accused TVK of poaching legislators, BJP has also sought action against higher education minister P Viswanathan over allegations of inappropriate behaviour.Thirumavalavan’s statement also comes in the backdrop of other TVK allies – Congress and CPI – criticising the governor of running a parallel administration.Thirumavalavan initially distanced himself from the issue, saying such questions should be addressed to the AIADMK or TVK leadership.“AIADMK leadership has not spoken about it yet. TVK should respond to the charges of poaching MLAs,’’ he said. However, when reporters referred to the petitions submitted to the governor, the VCK chief said the issue should be inquired.
