Patna: More than 30,000 pending payment transactions linked to transport services in the state have been cleared, removing a technical hurdle that had stalled work related to vehicle registration, driving licences, e-challans, fitness certificates and permits.The transport department resolved the issue on Friday following technical coordination with the finance department and National Informatics Centre (NIC). The clearance is expected to provide relief to thousands of vehicle owners, driving licence applicants and vehicle dealers whose applications were stuck because payment statuses were not updated in the system.The issue emerged during the transition from OGRAS-1 to OGRAS-2, the Revenue Management System used for online financial transactions. In many cases, payments either did not reflect in the system or continued to show as pending even after being made, preventing subsequent processing on vehicle- and licence-related services.To fix the problem, the transport department developed an API-based mechanism to improve coordination between the Vahan and Sarathi platforms and OGRAS. After implementation, more than 30,000 pending payment cases were processed and resolved.Transport secretary Raj Kumar said online transport services were directly linked to the daily needs of citizens and that delays after payment caused unnecessary inconvenience. He said the department, along with the finance department and NIC, worked to remove the technical bottleneck to ensure completed payments did not leave applications pending.State transport commissioner Arif Ahsan said the department was working to expand online transport services. He said better technical coordination among OGRAS, Vahan and Sarathi would make online services more efficient and convenient.
