Patna: The Bihar govt has asked urban local bodies (ULBs) across the state to ensure wide public participation in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, which will run from Aug 9 to 17 to mark the 150th anniversary of ‘Vande Mataram’.Urban development and housing minister Nitish Mishra issued the directions to officials of all ULBs on Saturday, asking them to involve citizens, particularly youth, women and social organisations, in the campaign.Mishra said the campaign, launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, was aimed at promoting respect for the Tricolour and strengthening national unity. He also urged civic bodies to promote the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ through the campaign.“Har Ghar Tiranga is not merely a campaign but a collective expression of respect, pride and unity towards the nation,” Mishra said.As part of the campaign, civic bodies have been asked to organise bike, bicycle and car rallies carrying the Tricolour, collective singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ and other cultural and public programmes. Officials have also been directed to use digital platforms to encourage participation.Citizens will be able to take photographs with the Tricolour and upload them on the designated Govt of India portal to register their participation. They can also download a certificate after completing the process. ULBs have been asked to assist citizens with the process and promote digital participation.Mishra directed municipal authorities to ensure adequate availability of national flags and make them available to citizens free of cost. He said the flags could be procured through JEEViKA.Municipal officials and employees have also been asked to coordinate with elected representatives, voluntary organisations, educational institutions, market associations and citizen groups to broaden participation in the campaign.Mishra urged all ULBs to conduct the campaign across their respective areas and encourage maximum public participation.
