PATNA: The father of Nandan Yadav, the main accused in a minor girl’s molestation case in Jamui, has been arrested in connection with a more than two-decade-old double murder case.The accused, Ganauri Yadav, was wanted in connection with a double murder that took place in 2003 and had been absconding for over two dacades. He was arrested when police raided his house to apprehend his son.According to Jamui Police, Nandan Yadav, son of Ganauri Yadav, is the main accused in the recent Jamui molestation case. He is accused of brutally assaulting a Class 10 student in the middle of the road and openly molesting his minor girlfriend. The incident had sparked outrage in the district.After an FIR was registered, police conducted a raid at Nandan’s house. When Nandan was arrested, he allegedly tried to escape from custody. In the ensuing exchange of fire and retaliatory firing by the police, Nandan was shot in the leg and overpowered.During the investigation following Nandan’s arrest, police decided to check the criminal history of his family. According to police, the investigation and interrogation revealed that his father, Ganauri, was a named accused in a double murder case dating back to April 3, 2003.On that day, two men, DP Yadav and Pune Yadav, were allegedly brutally murdered in Pratappur village over a business dispute. The mother of the deceased had named Ganauri as an accused in the case. He had allegedly been evading arrest since then.Police arrested Ganauri shortly after his son’s arrest and produced him before a court. He was sent to judicial custody on Wednesday.
