Hazaribag: Hazaribag Municipal Corporation (HMC) has warned residents and shopkeepers against dumping garbage on roads and around the memorial of Army Captain Karamjeet Singh Bakshi at Pagoda Chowk, stating that violators will face action. Capt Bakshi was killed in an IED blast in Jammu & Kashmir’s Akhnoor sector in Feb 2025.The warning came during an inspection and awareness drive on Tuesday evening following complaints of waste being repeatedly dumped around the martyr’s memorial. Municipal officials inspected the area and directed shopkeepers to keep dustbins at their establishments and ensure proper disposal of waste.Municipal commissioner Om Prakash Gupta said, “Maintaining the dignity of the memorial is a collective responsibility. We urge people not to throw garbage on roads, in public places, lanes or water bodies.”The issue gained attention after garbage accumulated around the memorial earlier this week, sparking criticism on social media. Members of the Commando Security Force conducted a cleanliness drive on Monday, but fresh dumping was reported the next day.
