PATNA: An FIR has been registered at the Secretariat Police Station against an employee of the Bihar chief minister’s office in connection with the posting of a photograph of the Jamui molestation victim’s family on chief minister Samrat Choudhary’s social media handle.The development comes after Choudhary faced criticism from the RJD over the photograph, which was later deleted.RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav had accused the chief minister of violating the POCSO Act by allegedly revealing the minor’s identity, while MP Misa Bharti had demanded an FIR, questioning why the chief minister had called the victim and her family for what she described as a “PR photo session”.The minor, along with her family, had met Choudhary on Thursday and was assured of speedy justice and the strongest possible punishment for all the accused through a speedy trial.The controversy erupted after Choudhary posted a photograph of himself with the victim and her family on X before taking it down.The Jamui incident took place on September 19, when a Class 10 girl and a boy returning from coaching classes were allegedly stopped by a group of youths.The girl was allegedly surrounded and molested, while the boy was separated from her.Videos of the incident subsequently surfaced online, prompting police action and an FIR under the POCSO Act and relevant provisions of the BNS.All accused in the case have since been arrested.(With agency inputs)
