Ranchi: The Jharkhand Education Project Council (JEPC) is gearing up to roll out the third and fourth rounds of the Jharkhand School Certification (JSC) programme for govt schools of the state this August. To ensure good results, the council launched the first in the series of preparatory webinars on Monday, bringing together district and block officials, headteachers and educators directly involved in the initiative. This monthly webinar series is designed to demystify the assessment process, helping participating institutions grasp the evaluation modalities and improve their rankings.“The webinar will now be a regular feature. It is open not just to the currently participating schools but to all institutions across the state, allowing them to adequately prepare for future assessment cycles,” said Avinav Kumar, state programme officer (quality education) at JEPC.According to officials, the interactive series was conceptualised to address prevalent misconceptions surrounding the evaluation framework. The inaugural session saw active participation from more than 250 educators, and the recorded broadcast was subsequently shared statewide to benefit schools that could not attend live.Launched in 2025 as a five-year comprehensive roadmap, the JSC programme has already covered 1,456 schools and assessed more than 2.39 lakh students across its first two phases. For the upcoming twin rounds in August, a fresh cohort of 1,400 schools has been selected through a structured process of nomination and orientation.Under the programme, schools are evaluated against three primary quality benchmarks: student learning outcomes, which carry the highest weightage at 50%; school climate at 40%; and the Teachers’ Need Assessment (TNA) at 10%. Depending on their final scores, institutions are graded and awarded Gold, Silver or Bronze certifications. The webinar is part of a broader support ecosystem created by the JEPC to drive institutional excellence.
