Ranchi: Students protesting against alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted by Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) suspended their agitation after 26 days on Wednesday and handed a 60-day ultimatum to the state govt to fulfil their pending demands.JPSC JSSC Reforms Manch announced suspension of protest on Wednesday after the state govt cancelled the JSSC- Combined Graduate Level 2024 Examination along with others, which were conducted by the tainted private agency TDPL.JPSC JSSC Reforms Manch member Ravindra Paswan said, “Ministers Dipika Pandey Singh and Irfan Ansari visited the protest site on Monday and assured us of acting against all the exam mafias in Jharkhand. Considering their assurance, we have suspended the protest for the time being. We will resume our movement if the assurances are not fulfilled,” he said.Paswan said while 22 recruitment exams have been cancelled, many exams, including the ones for recruitment of excise constables and post-graduate teachers, are yet to be cancelled.While govt agreed on most of their demands, one of the key demands for a CBI inquiry into alleged recruitment exam irregularities also remains pending.The protest site at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium, which had witnessed massive gatherings of students, job aspirants and civil society groups since July 29, wore a deserted look on Wednesday.Another faction, JPSC JSSC Abhyarthi Nyay Manch, led by Devendranath Mahto, had called off their protest on Aug 17 following the state cabinet’s decision to cancel the examinations.dhrubamalakar123@gmail.com
