Khunti police asks banks to increase vigil during puja

Ranchi: Khunti SP Rishabh Garg on Thursday asked the bankers to enhance the security system in view of the upcoming Durga Puja and issued a slew of instructions related to the safety of bank branches, ATMs and customers.In a meeting held with the bank officials, he directed them to keep their closed-circuit television cameras functional, conduct regular inspection of alarms and sirens and ensure adequate security at the bank and ATM premises.He asked them to keep vigil in their branches and inform police if anyone is found moving under suspicious circumstances.The SP also stressed the need for increased security around the banks as the turnout of customers and the cash movement would increase during the festival. He said that in case of crime and cyber and financial frauds, the concerned police station should be informed immediately.He also emphasised the exchange of information between local police and the banks to ensure the safety of common people during the festival.Apart from the festival, the step was also taken in view of the bank robbery at a private bank branch in the Golmuri area of Jamshedpur in which armed criminals looted around Rs 40 lakh and gold worth around Rs 33 crore.Garg said, “After the Jamshedpur incident, we had carried out the safety audit of banks in the district. During the meeting, police issued instructions to improve the safety system. Police would also write to the top officers of each bank in this regard.”
