Hazaribag: A truck carrying illegally transported foreign liquor overturned on the Chatra-Gaya Dobhi road near Sanghri Ghat in Chatra district on Saturday while allegedly trying to evade police, triggering chaos as passers-by looted scattered bottles and cartons.Police said a Sadar police station patrol team grew suspicious of the vehicle and tried to intercept it. The driver allegedly sped away but lost control in the ghat section, causing the truck to overturn.Haryana-labelled IMFL bottles hidden under hay bags spilled onto the road, drawing villagers and passers-by who fled with liquor before police could secure the spot.Sadar police station officer-in charge Anil Kumar Oraon reached along with a team, dispersed the crowd and seized the remaining consignment. He said the driver and helper escaped and remain absconding.Officials are assessing the seized liquor’s quantity and value.
