Patna: A month after a video purportedly showing Madhepura civil surgeon-cum-chief medical officer Dr Vijay Kumar allegedly receiving money during inspection and licensing of a private nursing home went viral, the health department suspended him following an inquiry.Madhepura DM had ordered an inquiry committee on Aug 17, headed by the district land acquisition officer.“According to the inquiry report, Kumar was also accused of misusing his official position to facilitate the reopening of Satyam Emergency Hospital, which had earlier been sealed. He allegedly opened a file and issued an order allowing the hospital to resume operations and was accused of receiving an unauthorised amount in connection with the matter,” the health department said on Friday.The inquiry team prima facie found Kumar’s conduct fell under corrupt practices. He was suspended under the Bihar Government Servants (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 2005. His headquarters will be in Patna.Dr Bipin Kumar Gupta has been given additional charge of civil surgeon-cum-chief medical officer, Madhepura.
