Patna: A 28-year-old man with a criminal background was injured in a shooting near the banks of the Ganga at Pachhiyari Malahi village under Barh police station area of Patna on Monday.The injured, identified as Roshan Tiwari alias Karaka Baba, a resident of Akbarpur Road, was admitted to Barh sub-divisional hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.Police rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident and launched an investigation. A forensic team was also pressed into service to collect evidence.Patna Rural SP Kundan Kumar said the person suspected of firing the shot had been identified and was likely to be arrested soon. He said a special team had been constituted under his supervision to trace and arrest the accused.“Preliminary investigation has revealed that both the injured man and the suspected assailants have criminal backgrounds and have previously served jail terms. Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting,” Kumar said.According to the SP, Roshan and two other men allegedly involved in the incident were known to each other and were sitting together at the spot before the shooting. Police recovered drinking glasses from the location, suggesting the trio may have been eating or consuming liquor together before the incident.“The three were friends and knew each other well. All have criminal histories, including previous jail terms,” Kumar said.Police are probing whether a personal dispute or some other issue triggered the altercation that culminated in the shooting.“A case has been registered, and investigators are examining all angles while conducting raids to arrest the accused,” the SP added.
