Jamshedpur/Garhwa: Milad-un-Nabi was celebrated with prayers, processions and community gatherings across Jharkhand on Wednesday. Thousands of people participated in events organised in several districts to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad.In Jamshedpur, hundreds of people joined the 15-km procession, which began at Gandhi Maidan in Mango and concluded at Central Ground in Dhatkidih after passing through Aam Bagan Ground in Sakchi.Participants marched on foot or travelled on motorcycles and in cars while reciting devotional verses. A mass prayer was offered at Gandhi Maidan before the procession began.Processions from 15 locations later converged at Aam Bagan. Mosques and several localities were illuminated, while welcome gates decorated with green and white banners were installed at major intersections. Volunteers distributed water, sherbet, sweets and refreshments among participants. Devotional qawwalis were also performed.In Garhwa, thousands of devotees assembled at Karbala Ground before taking out the traditional procession, which passed through key areas of the town before reaching the Garhwa block office. Participants recited naats and poems focusing on the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad.Addressing the gathering, Juma Masjid imam Hafiz Abdus Samad spoke about the Prophet’s message, character and moral teachings.District administrations made extensive security arrangements to ensure peaceful celebrations. In Jamshedpur, police personnel were deployed along the procession route and surveillance was stepped up to maintain law and order. Garhwa SP Ashutosh Shekhar said the procession concluded without any untoward incident.
