Kumar also directed officials to expand tent city capacity and deploy additional mist cooling systems. National Highways Authority of India officials were asked to maintain close coordination with the district administrations to ensure smooth pilgrim movement between Deoghar and Basukinath. The administration plans AI-enabled surveillance cameras, facial recognition systems, drones, automatic number plate recognition cameras, AI-based traffic management and QR code-based grievance redressal during the mela. Another review meeting is scheduled for July 29.However, the shrine board meeting, expected to be chaired by CM Hemant Soren, was not held. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey criticised the lapse and urged the govt to convene it immediately.“It is unfortunate that the state govt failed to convene a single meeting of the shrine board during the last seven years reflecting its indifference towards one of the most famous religious event of the country,” Dubey alleged. The highway’s formal inauguration was also deferred, though the constructed stretch has been partially opened to traffic to ease congestion.
