Mumbai: Agripada police on Tuesday arrested a 38-year-old Govandi man for allegedly stabbing a food delivery boy multiple times as he thought that the teenager and his cousin were laughing at him.Police said the victim, Mazgaon resident Afzal Khan, was on his delivery rounds when he stopped near a roadside stall to meet his cousin located near Baby Garden on Meghraj Sethi Marg in Agripada around 7pm. Khan was chatting and laughing with his cousin, when Mohammed Mansuri, who was passing from there, confronted the teenager over what he perceived as mockery. Without provocation, Mansuri pulled out a knife from his bag and stabbed him repeatedly on his hands and stomach, Khan claimed in his police complaint.Bystanders at the scene overpowered Mansuri with the help of a nearby vendor and handed him over to Agripada police. Khan, who sustained multiple stab injuries, was rushed to Nair Hospital at Mumbai Central, where he is undergoing treatment. Police did a panchnama and seized the knife. A police team, along with forensic experts, also inspected the crime scene. Senior police inspector Sanjay Nale said, “The accused, who earlier worked as a delivery boy for a food service aggregator, has been remanded in police custody till May 2.”
