Patna: A Muzaffarpur court has issued non-bailable warrants (NBWs) against 11 policemen, including four sub-inspectors, for repeatedly failing to appear in proceedings in a 2018 dacoity-related case. The Additional District Judge (ADJ)-11 court has directed that all 11 cops be arrested and produced before it by Oct 28. The order was issued on Sept 10, but it came into the public domain on Monday. The warrants have been forwarded to the Saraiya police station in charge and Muzaffarpur SSP’s office for execution. The case dates back to Sept 17, 2018, when Saraiya police received information that some criminals were allegedly planning a dacoity at Bhagat Singh High School ground in Manikpur area.A police team raided the spot around 9.30pm and arrested Rahul Kumar Yadav alias Kranti Yadav, Mohammad Anjar and Mukesh Kumar Ram. Police claimed to have recovered a loaded country-made pistol and cartridges from them. Anil Kumar, Guddu Sahni and Rajesh Rai allegedly escaped.A case was subsequently registered and the three arrested accused were sent to jail. The trial is underway, with police personnel involved in the raid required to depose before the court and produce the seized weapons and other evidence.Muzaffarpur SSP Kantesh Kumar Mishra said the policemen had failed to appear despite several dates and the seized evidence had also not been produced. He said the court had issued summons to the personnel concerned on May 8, 2025, but they allegedly failed to appear.“The court issued bailable warrants against them on Aug 20, 2026. Despite this, they did not appear, prompting the court to issue NBWs on Sept 10,” Mishra said.“We have received the court order and the policemen will be arrested if they do not surrender,” he added. Those facing the warrants include Saraiya police sub-inspectors Mohammad Alauddin, Shatrughan Sahni, Yogendra Kumar Singh and investigating officer Anil Kumar. Seven other personnel, including BMP Havildar Sanjay Sharma, constables Abhay Kumar Singh, Azhar Khan and Rahul Kumar, and driver-cum-orderly Radhakant Prasad, are also among the 11 policemen.
