Daltonganj: After chief minister Hemant Soren took cognizance of the plight of three orphaned children from Akouni village and posted the same on X on Saturday directing the state administration to ensure proper rehabilitation of the kids, Palamu deputy commissioner Dilip Pratap Singh Shekhawat visited the village the same day to meet the three children. He took stock of their situation and even enabled them to be part of various welfare schemes. While interacting with the kids, Shekhawat also shared his number asking them to reach out to him directly in case of any need, the district IPRD department stated.A civil society activist Satish Kumar Sharma had posted on X highlighting about the plight of three orphaned siblings and had tagged everyone, including CM Hemant Soren, in the post.Earlier in the day, Hussainabad block development officer (BDO) NS Verma, who also visited Palamu, said, “Of the three kids, two are male. They have another married female sibling but she lives in a different place. A few months ago, they lost their father Sanjay Sharma. Their grandfather used to take care of them but he too died two months ago. Although the children have an uncle, he is a migrant worker and mostly out of the state over work issues.” On their rehabilitation, the BDO added, “The children have their parent’s ration card which will be kept operational for them.”Sub-divisional officer (SDO) Gourang Mahto, meanwhile, said that state govt runs a sponsorship scheme under Mission Vatsalya. “The children will be covered by this.
