Dumka: A 24-year-old woman, identified as Shanichariya Devi, died of burn injuries on Saturday after allegedly being set ablaze by her husband a day before at her Chandan Garhia-based parents home in Dumka district, police said on Monday.The victim’s brother, Kishan Rai, lodged an FIR on Sunday alleging that Shanichariya was married to Arjun Rai, 30, of Gandarkpur village about two years ago, and the couple reportedly had frequent disputes. She was staying at her parental home for the past few days.On Friday, Arjun allegedly poured petrol on her and set ablaze following an argument at her parental home. Other members of her family were away. She was taken to the Rampurhat sadar hospital in West Bengal, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment on Saturday.Officer in-charge of the Shikaripara police station Amit Kumar Lakra said, “Efforts are under way to arrest the accused.”
