Jamshedpur: Tension prevailed in a locality under Jugsalai police station limits late Friday after a dispute over missing cattle led to a clash, prompting police to use mild force and fire four rounds in the air to disperse the crowd.Police said Saturday that a case had been registered against 17 named people and 150-200 unidentified individuals.SSP Ehtesham Waquarib said raids were underway to apprehend those involved in the clash. Additional personnel, including quick response teams and Tiger Mobile units, have been deployed to maintain law and order.Police said a group of youths reached the locality following reports that the missing cattle might have been taken there. An altercation broke out, drawing more people to the spot and escalating tension.Jugsalai police station officer in-charge Ghulam Rabbani Khan and other personnel rushed to the area and attempted to bring the situation under control. Police said some members of the gathering allegedly pelted stones, following which security personnel resorted to a lathi-charge and aerial firing.The situation was brought under control, and additional forces remained deployed as a precaution, police said.
