Patna: From a pond-cum-park in Patliputra to a 60,000-sqft green space in Srikrishnapuri, the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) is giving several parks and water bodies across the city a makeover. The projects, involving total investments of over Rs11 crore, are aimed at creating cleaner, greener public spaces with facilities for walking, fitness, recreation and community activities.A communique issued by the civic body on Saturday detailed these projects planned across the municipality, including those already under way and those proposed for development. In Patliputra, the PMC plans to develop 3,364 sqm of land near the Surya Temple in CID Colony, Ward 8, as a pond-cum-park at an estimated cost of Rs1.71 crore. The project will include a garden, fountain, pathways, seating, drinking water and toilets. Steps will also be constructed in the pond to facilitate Chhath Puja and other community events. The project awaits administrative approval from the urban development and housing department.The Rs1.48-crore rejuvenation of Kacchi Talab in the New Capital circle is almost complete. The pond was dewatered and deep-cleaned, with its base strengthened using gravel, sand and stone boulders. A boundary wall, pathways, seating, steps and lighting have also been provided.Meanwhile, Dumdum Park in Srikrishnapuri will be developed across 60,000 sqft at a cost of around Rs2.45 crore. The project will include landscaping, green spaces, pathways, seating and drinking water facilities.In Mithapur, the civic body has floated a tender for Rs3.97-crore Sipara Park, spread across 14,717 sqm. It will have a children’s play area, open gym, fountain, gazebo, selfie point, garden, toilets and high-mast lights.The PMC is also spending Rs46 lakh on revamping the Janta Flats park in Ward no. 46. The work is aimed at improving the existing facilities and making the park more usable and accessible for local residents. In addition, around Rs1.5 crore has been earmarked for developing a new park in Ward no. 43 of Bankipur, which will provide residents with an additional open space for recreation, walking and other community activities.
