Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC), to provide relief to people from the scorching summer, has installed drinking water kiosks and mobile ‘Nigam Neer’ (water-on-wheels) units at major intersections, public squares, and high-traffic zones.The Nigam Neer mobile service vehicles are equipped with 200-litre tanks and taps to allow people to refill their water bottles. These units are currently stationed at Patna Junction, Rajendra Nagar Railway Station, GPO roundabout, and Vikas Bhawan. The PMC is also moving these units to crowded areas like NMCH, Sabzibagh, and Ashok Rajpath, among others, based on daily demand and official directives.The PMC has also set up drinking water kiosks, or ‘pyau’, across several administrative circles. Each kiosk is equipped with two 100-litre earthen pots that are cleaned and refilled by municipal staff on a scheduled basis. These kiosks have been set up across all the municipal circles, including New Capital, Patna City, Kankarbagh, Azimabad, Bankipur, and Patliputra, covering almost all wards.PMC officials said the civic body has set up the facilities to ensure easy access to water so that people get some relief from the summer heat. They added that people can report deficiencies in service or water quality through circle offices, the toll-free number, or the municipal WhatsApp chatbot.
