Dumka: A seven-month pregnant woman died on Wednesday morning after a portion of her mud house collapsed in incessant rain at Pandni village under the Narayanpur police station limits in Jamtara district the night before.Lalita Devi, 26, along with her husband Shankar Rai, was sleeping when the hut gave way around 12.30am, trapping her under the debris. Relatives and area residents rushed to the spot after hearing cries for help and pulled the couple out from the rubble. Lalita was taken to a local doctor, who referred her to the Shaheed Nirmal Mahto Medical College, Dhanbad. She died at the hospital.Narayanpur BDO Kamlesh Das, along with local police team, visited the family members of the deceased and assured them of suitable compensation. “The damages are being assessed. Suitable compensation would be paid to the victim’s family by the disaster management department,” the BDO said.
