Ranchi: Safety for women and children, crowd management, emergency arrangements, parking, entry and exit routes, sanitation, road conditions, and civic facilities have emerged as key concerns ahead of Durga Puja, with the administration, police, and Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) officials reviewing arrangements at major Puja venues.Stressing on “responsible celebrations”, authorities have urged organisers to prevent activities that could create inconvenience or offend public sentiments.DC Manjunath Bhajantri on Wednesday said safety arrangements should cover all aspects of the celebrations, with special attention to women and children.“The focus is on ensuring that people can celebrate safely. Adequate security, lighting, emergency arrangements and coordination between the administration, police and Puja committees are important,” he said.Appealing to the youth to “be responsible”, SSP Rakesh Ranjan said, “No unfair or unverified information that hurts the sentiments of any religion or person should be shared or forwarded.”Urging the enthusiasts to “minimise the use of four-wheelers”, SP (Traffic ) Rakesh Singh said, “Traffic management would require cooperation from visitors.”RMC commissioner Sushant Gaurav visited pandals like Harmu Panch Mandir, R R Sporting Club, Bakri Bazaar, and Zila School.“Sanitation teams have been directed to work in multiple shifts to keep pandals and approach roads clean. Temporary toilets and dustbins are being arranged. We are also addressing open drains, potholes, streetlight issues, encroachments and dust problems, especially in HEC-Dhurwa.” Gaurav said.The civic body’s control room (1800-570-1235) and quick-response teams will remain active round the clock during the festival.
