Ranchi: Movement of vehicles would be restricted on many stretches in the state capital on Friday and Saturday due to Janmashtami festival celebrations, police said.Tableaux would be taken out in many parts of the city, including Main Road, Mission Chowk, Albert Ekka Chowk, on Friday, while ‘dahi-handi’ competition and ‘bhajan sandhya’ would be held the next day.The traffic wing issued a notification on Thursday stating that heavy goods vehicles would have to take the Ring Road as their entry would be prohibited within the city limits from 6 am till midnight on both the days.Small and large goods vehicles, auto-rickshaws, and totos would be barred from Albert Ekka Chowk to Sujata Chowk, Plaza Chowk to Albert Ekka Chowk, Jail Chowk to Albert Ekka Chowk, Mission Chowk to Sarjana Chowk, Ratan PP to Albert Ekka Chowk and Karbala Chowk to Kali Mandir from 3 pm till the end of the programme on the two days. Traffic could be either diverted or stopped on other routes, if required, the traffic wing said.SP (Traffic) Rakesh Singh appealed to people to avoid using their four-wheelers on the mentioned dates.
