RMC maps out cleanliness, traffic blueprints for Muharram, Shravan

Ranchi: The Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) has shifted into high gear to oversee civic arrangements for the upcoming religious events, finalising plans for both Muharram processions scheduled on June 26 and the holy month of Shravan. At a coordination meeting chaired by additional municipal commissioner Sanjay Kumar on Monday, civic officials met with representatives of the central muharram committee and akhada committees to review preparations for the festival.Kumar directed officials to deploy special cleanliness drives across all procession routes to ensure the areas remain completely garbage-free. He also ordered the activation of quick response teams (QRTs) to counter temporary waterlogging, the immediate repair of non-functional streetlights in sensitive zones, the pruning of overhanging tree branches, and the strategic positioning of water tankers and mobile toilets.Preparations have also commenced around the Pahari Mandir precinct to welcome thousands of daily devotees during Shravan. Municipal Commissioner Sushant Gaurav has ordered a time-bound campaign to clear clogged drainage systems and cover all open drains with concrete slabs on a priority basis. To ensure the seamless movement of pilgrims, the civic body is launching an anti-encroachment drive to clear all designated travel routes. This will be supported by a strict traffic management framework. Authorities will impose hefty fines and penalties on unauthorised loading operations and the illegal parking of trucks, commercial goods vehicles, and auto-rickshaws within the temple zone. To prevent bottlenecks, alternative parking sites are being identified and activated. Also, the entire Pahari Mandir area has been strictly designated as a plastic-free zone. Special enforcement teams will conduct regular raids to penalise the use, storage, or sale of single-use plastics, while technical teams have been tasked with rectifying defective streetlights and clearing dangling branches across the zone.
