School girls injured as auto overturns in Palamu

Daltonganj: At least half a dozen students of a govt high school were injured when an autorickshaw carrying them overturned on the Untari Road in Palamu on Wednesday, police said.The injured were sent to the Bishrampur community health centre (CHC). “Three of the girls showed symptoms of nasal bleeding, with one experiencing vomiting. They were referred to the Medininagar Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) in Daltonganj. Anti-tetanus toxoid injections and medication to control bleeding were given before referral. Two others complained of chest and shoulder pain,” medical officer (in-charge) of the Bishrampur CHC, Dr Rajinder Kumar, said.“One of the three girls underwent a CT scan. Her condition is stable, though she is highly traumatised,” a hospital official said.A probe into the case has been launched. Efforts are under way to trace the absconding driver and ascertain the exact cause of the accident. The vehicle has been seized, while the driver fled the spot.
