Senior IAS officials given new roles in major departments

Patna: Sate govt on Thursday transferred and reassigned several senior IAS officials, handing them new responsibilities across crucial departments. The general administration department issued the notification for the reshuffle late in the evening. The changes impact major portfolios, including rural works, information technology, food and consumer protection, sports, higher education and agriculture.According to the notification, 2004-batch IAS officer Abhay Kumar Singh has been shifted from the information technology department and appointed secretary in the rural works department. Until further orders, he will also continue to hold additional charge of the IT department, ensuring continuity in the state’s digital initiatives.Divesh Sehra, a 2005-batch officer who was serving in the rural works department, has been posted as secretary of the food and consumer protection department. In addition, he has been given charge as inquiry commissioner in the General Administration Department until further orders.Deepak Anand, a 2007-batch IAS officer and former secretary of the food and consumer protection department, has been transferred as secretary of the sports department.Rajiv Raushan, a 2010-batch officer and secretary of the higher education department, will additionally hold charge of the education and sports departments until the completion of the Bankipur assembly byelection process. He will also continue as secretary (resources) in the finance department.Rachna Patil, also from the 2010 batch and currently secretary (expenditure) in the finance department, has been assigned additional charge of the agriculture department until further orders.The govt has also entrusted Dharmendra Kumar, a 2013-batch IAS officer, with additional charge as special secretary in the education department. Manesh Kumar, of the same batch and currently director of the mines department, will additionally oversee the Bihar State Educational Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited.Meanwhile, 2022-batch IAS officer Shweta Bharti has been appointed deputy development commissioner-cum-chief executive officer of the Zila Parishad in Sitamarhi.
