Patna: Seven new dengue cases was reported across Bihar on Wednesday, taking the state’s confirmed tally to 446 this year, according to data released by the health department.Patna recorded two fresh cases, taking its tally to 181, the highest in the state. Vaishali, East Champaran, Gaya, Katihar and Jehanabad reported one new case each.Vaishali has recorded 25 cases this season, followed by Muzaffarpur (24), East Champaran (20), Aurangabad (19), Nalanda (13) and Saran (12).Meanwhile, reports emerged of the suspected death of a dengue patient undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Patna. However, senior officials of the district administration and health department said the death had not been officially verified.Senior public health specialist Dr Ranjeet Kumar said most dengue cases in Patna were being reported from urban areas under the Patna Municipal Corporation, particularly Patliputra, Azamibad and Kankarbagh circles.Health experts said dengue symptoms generally appear four to 10 days after a mosquito bite and may include high fever ( temperature up to 104°F/40°C), severe headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain, nausea, vomiting, fatigue and skin rash. Health experts advised people to seek medical attention if such symptoms develop.
